What about a caddy to go on a ladder, that is still usable when the ladder is closed and leaning on the wall

Paul Abernathy

Rob Nickman Hmm...I need a mental picture to figure out a design. So, what type ladder? I would need to make it so that it's universal fit. I actually started making one for a ladder but stopped. I might revisit it. Thanks

There is a few in the market but you have to have the A frame ladder extended for it to function. The problem is half the time I have my ladder closed and lean it up on the wall / studs. If you had something that could saddle the top but have some foam to protect the wall surface on the front but have saddle bags on the side to store tools and supplies. That way you are not dropping stuff all the time when you go for a tool or have to go up and down the ladder all the time to get supplies that you can store on the ladder and would have to take off every time you move it. You could put a tool holder on the backside of the bags some you could have more room in the bags to store supplies. I hope this helps and yes I have had time to think on this everyday in the field when I drop something off the ladder.

Rob Nickman Gotcha. Sadly we aren't gonna make anything that requires ancillary parts, such as foam as it's too much trouble. We only make items that are 100% printable. So, we have to look at a design that would focus on the tray vs the wall. Gives us something to think about as the one we previously created hooked on the side rails.

It doesn't have to have foam, it was the first thing that came to mind. If you had a wide flat area where the wall will hit the caddy, that is the important thing. You want a wide area the will distribute the weight of the ladder and not concentrate it to a small points. I have in the past had to but foam on my ladder when I had to go into a finished area before and that is why I thought about that. I have tried the ones that hooks on the side of the ladder and uses the rails, thay work fine as long as you don't close the ladder. I have spent days where im leaning the ladder against something and it would become useless.

Rob Nickman We have a shelf and another product also in the development stage. One hooks to the top step and other is a wider deck for top of a ladder. We will let everyone know how they develop.
