Pools, Spas, and anything Article 680
Hey Folks - Do me a favor. Please post on all your social media platforms that Coffee Hour on Wednesday. We will have a special guest joining us in the studio. Vince Della Croce from Siemens will be joining me. We will be talking 2026 NEC and answering questions on Article 680. Let's make it an amazing turnout for the show at 8:00 AM ET on Youtube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and of course FastTraxTube.com as well.
Been waiting for this one!!! Hype!!!
Great start new job tomorrow and hopefully I will be still able to listen on Wednesday. At 5 am. Here on the west coast and thanks again Mr Abernathy for all you do.
Adam French Congrats Adam. I knew you would bounce back fella. You are most welcome and thanks for your participation.
Well I found this on a job I was working on. Funny how people think is code compliant I have know idea what some people think when they do this kind of work. Well I guess they will always keep us busy fixing them.
Adam French So, tell us what NEC violations you observed. From what I can gather, based on what I can see, the issue only appears to be 680.13. No EBG necessary if it meets all of 680.42(B) as well. So, i'm getting Old Eyes...give us your violations fella.
Paul Abernathy , what is an EBG? Hope this isn’t a dumb ?
Nic Love not dumb at all my friend. That's short for Equipotential Bonding Grid.
Adam French in my opinion the flexible conduit is subject to physical damage which is a violation
Franklin De los santos why?....Bad Drivers?...LOL. As shown I would not fail it for physical damage but to each their own of course.
Paul Abernathy what see is that people can walk between the house and the hot tub, and just step on it over and over, it may be ok but I tink because of that can be a trip hazard, maybe I’m too concern
Franklin De los santos Trip Hazzards are not part of the NEC. We could invoke "physical damage" on anything to be honest. This LFNC is against the wall and stepping on LFNC won't damage it so I don't feel its a concern. But that's just me.
Paul Abernathy I can’t really tell from the photos, but the argument could be made that an expansion fitting should be installed on the PVC so it doesn’t start waving back at people….
Chris Capozzi can't really make that argument from a picture.
"(A) Thermal Expansion and Contraction.
Expansion fittings for PVC conduit shall be provided to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction where the length change, in accordance with Table 352.44(A), is expected to be 6 mm (1⁄4 in.) or greater in a straight run between securely mounted items such as boxes, cabinets, elbows, or other conduit terminations."
This is great, I've only done one or two pools in my career. Do you offer a class/course on Article 680?
Fernando Carrera The video series will cover all parts of 680. We don't teach "Installations" we just teach code.
