Buzz Watts Adventures – Episode 4
Substation Siege
By Electrical Code Academy, Inc. • Published September 2025
The night was heavy with tension in Wiretown. Since Arc Flash’s daring escape, whispers spread through the electrical underground: Ampie was gone.
Buzz Watts had tracked the faint hum of his sidekick’s energy signature to the outskirts of town—where the massive Wiretown Substation loomed like a sleeping giant. Transformers hummed low and steady, breakers stood like sentries, and the air crackled with power.
Buzz stood at the gate, his spiral head glowing faintly. “Hang on, Ampie. I’m coming.”
He pushed inside. But it was quiet… too quiet.
Suddenly, the yard erupted in light! Arc Flash appeared atop a transformer, his molten body glowing like a star. Sparks rained down as his voice echoed: “Welcome to my throne, Buzz! Every arc, every fault, every surge flows through me here. You can’t win on my ground!”
Buzz charged forward, EMT legs pounding across the gravel. He swung his lightning-bolt arms, deflecting blasts of plasma. The two clashed in a storm of sparks, each strike lighting the sky like fireworks.
From the shadows, Buzz spotted him—Ampie, bound to a grounding grid, wires wrapped tight. His glow was weak, but his eyes met Buzz’s with silent courage.
“Let him go, Arc Flash!” Buzz roared, throwing himself between Ampie and the villain.
Arc Flash laughed, his voice crackling like a shorted breaker. “You don’t get it, Buzz. This isn’t a rescue… it’s a trap.”
Suddenly, the substation shuddered. Switches slammed closed on their own, breakers locked into position, and arcs leapt across busbars in a terrifying display. Arc Flash spread his arms wide. “You’ve walked right into my power source. The more you fight, the stronger I become!”
Buzz braced himself, Codebook glowing at his side. He knew the battle wasn’t just about Ampie now—it was about saving Wiretown from total blackout.
The ground trembled. The air burned. Arc Flash’s laugh split the night as the substation roared to life.
“Let’s see if you can survive… the Substation Siege!” ⚡

Buzz’s Code Nugget
Substations demand respect: clearances, grounding, and protective devices are critical to controlling dangerous energy. Buzz’s battle here is a reminder that safety rules exist to keep catastrophic events from unfolding in real life.

cant wait for part 5!
Hey Josh – Yeah, we think is a “cute” little series and its a great little morning adventure. Look for Episode 5 to drop possibly this weekend or early next week. Also thank you for reading and glad you enjoy it.
Oh no! I’m so worried for
Buzz and Ampie… this is so cute.. paul I gave my coffee hour business card away yesterday to a 16 year old in high school electrical class.. he wants to be an electrician… I was gonna keep it for life, but hoping he sees the value I do in your teachings… Thanks for everything Paul and gang @electricalcodeacademy
Hey Fella, Well we all know the power of Buzz so don’t give up faith. You mean the NFC card? Should have just let him put the contacts in his phone from the NFC card rather than give it away, that defeats the purpose of the NFC feature on the card. Its designed so you don’t have to give anyone a card, they scan it into their phone.
Not nfc it was the business card you send with my minimalist wallet… I was saving it for a milestone in my life it meant a lot to me… you give so much and I told him when it gets hard and you wanna quit just remember me giving you this and if I can do it you can so don’t quit learning… and also buy a program because it’s taught me so much
