This course is our “Basic” course on the 2020 National Electrical Code® for Electrical Exam Preparation. While this course has all the same material as our famous Fast Trax® Black it does differ in that it doesn’t offer the same level of personal attention and support as our flagship courses.
Here is what WILL or WILL NOT be included in this course:
1) The student in the “Basic” course WILL have access to the 100 question and 750 electrical question database*. While we may include quizzes at the end of various units, this is not the same level of interaction as our Fast Trax® Black.
2) The student WILL NOT have access to FastTraxTube.com – That is the Enhanced Program, not the Basic Program.

How long will it take to start taking the course?
Greetings – If you are talking about the “Budget” courses, then you can start right away. In your profile you would see your course. If you are talking about the Fast Trax Black or Fast Trax Plus programs you must wait until you receive the email with course information. This can take up to 5 business days as it says on the course purchase page. So, it depends on which course you purchase.
I have my Master Electrician license for Texas and trying to brush up a bit so I can pass the Oklahoma exam. Would this be a good course for that, or is it geared more to prepare you for a journeyman exam? My goal is to take the test in about six weeks (end of January). I have already passed the Business and Law portion of the test. Also, is six weeks enough time to complete this “Budget” course?
Greetings – Our Exam Preparation Programs are geared towards taking electrical exams. It sounds like to are doing just that so I am not sure about the comment, is it geared more to prepare for a jourmeymans exam. These are exam prep courses and we do not distingush between journeyman or masters in our courses. We simply teach the National Electrical Code. Now, can you do it in 6 weeks, I guess that is possible but we only grade work on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the Black or Plus programs. So, in the budget you would be grading your own work so that would not slow you down. Now, I would typically say someone needs about 3 months (90 Days) but being you are already a master in Texas it may simply not take you as long. However, everyone learns at a different pace so we simply could not be sure of your level of knowledge to reduce down our recommendation of at least 90 days. However, will it help you, most certainly any NEC prep course can’t hurt.
Great! Any coupons that can be applied, and is the 750-question database that was added on 7/21/2023 still included?
Yes, the database is included.
does the budget courses go over motor calculations, voltage drop calculations?
Greetings – Yes, it is discussed in our course.
Do you get access to the full-page printable calculation page that can be stuck in the book with the basics purchase? I heard about it on the podcast but haven’t been able to find information on it.
Greetings,
If you are talking about the “calculation” sheets for doing Single Family Dwellings (Standard and Optional), as well as Multifamily and Non-Dwelling Calculations. The answer is yes, you will be able to print them off in any of our courses.
I am in Virginia. Which of your courses would be best for the 2017 NEC, which is what Virginia is using currently. Please keep in mind that i would really like to be able to have acess to your wednesday sessions. Thank you.
Greetings – The only programs we have that are on the 2017 NEC is the Fast Trax Black and Fast Trax Plus. The only difference in the two is that the PLUS includes 12 month access to FastTraxTube.com as well for our video library.
Is this a video program where Paul is teaching the different parts of the NEC or is it just me reading about each article and then answering the questions at the end of the chapter?? I only ask because he makes such good videos on youtube and I want to be sure that is what im paying for here not just practice tests and reading material.
The Fast Trax is not a video course and never will be. While we offer videos to supplement the training via FastTraxTube.com for the Enhanced or Plus programs, they are not based on the course. If you are not into reading, looking at images and going back and forth into the NEC then our course is not for you.
